Our Memories Still Belong Here.
My name is Ester. I am 21 years old. I was born in Pardubice, and I have lived here my whole life. And the place I want to talk about is actually from one of my favorite childhood memories: this fountain in Velikoveselí, made by Petr David. And it was my favorite playground, even if it is not a playground. And I want to give this memory to the other people, and out of my generation, because I think it's actually an important place for people who are the same age as me, because I think we all played there. It was like a secret castle, a castle with no boundaries, where we could ride a bike or just hide. Our parents wouldn't find us because, or we felt like that. And now I just see how the fountain isn't as nice as I remember it and isn't the happiest place in the Venice study now. So it's kind of sad. And I realized it when I was going to high school there, nearby this fountain, and I was walking around it every single day to school. And just looking at it makes me feel so happy and also sad, because the place doesn't look good right now. I have more of my favorite playgrounds. The two other of them were actually destroyed and are not here in Pardubice anymore. One was in Polabiny, near my kindergarten, and I remember the concrete slide, which was really good. Like, I was three years old, but the slide was the best slide ever. The fountain also reminds me of it because it's from the same material and everything. And near the fountain was the red, big, toboggan-like slide, and that was really good, and it's erased too. Dialogue between this sculpture and the other one near it, and I think that was made earlier, much earlier, in the socialist era. And this sculpture particularly is restored, and the fountain isn't. So now it's in some kind of weird dialogue, but good, I think. And also, the river is, like, beautiful. And I think that if, in the future, someone connects the river, the fountain, and the art piece, and all of the Bubeníkovy sady, it could be really great. Like, I could imagine it could be the best park in the city that we could have here, because it has the river so near. Every time I walk through the park, I taste some kind of bitterness, like that something is ending, and I don't know why it should end.
